to Florida’s agricultural industry is eligible for this award.
Recognition: The award winner will be recognized with a plaque during a ceremony at the WLIANR Alumni Association annual
meeting. A presentation will be prepared to publicize the award winner’s achievements in providing exemplary leadership for
Florida agriculture.
Deadline for award nominations is Friday, July 22, 2012. Please email Dr. Hannah Carter a brief description of the individual’s contributions to Florida’s agriculture and natural resource industries and why you believe they are worthy of this honor.

This session will motivate, encourage and discuss ways that you can become a better leader! Dr. Jones is an award winning teacher and enthusiastic presenter on interpersonal leadership. He was a Class VIII favorite and looks forward to working with members of the WLI Alumni Association.

9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Building a Policy Agenda for Agriculture and Natural Resources—Dr. Alexa Lamm, Policy Research and Evaluation Specialist, National Public Policy and Evaluation Center, UF/IFAS. A problem is only a problem if something can be done about it—As leaders in agriculture, it is important to remember that WE can influence the policy process. However, we need to be focused on specific issues and establish an agenda when speaking with decision makers. During this session YOU will identify the big issues for Florida agriculture and work on how WE can build the policy agenda for agriculture together.

11:00 – 12:00 p.m. The Practical Side of Emotional Intelligence: The How Behind the What—Dr. Tony Andenoro, Assistant Professor, Leadership Development, University of Florida. Emotional Intelligence is a compilation of skills that allow us to evaluate ourselves and our interactions with the world around us on a minute by minute basis. However, it can be over complicated at times through its academic roots. This presentation will provide an engaging opportunity for participants to learn about, practice, and develop their Emotional Intelligence to benefit the people that we serve through our organizations and develop more authentic relationships.

He is the Chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry.
